THE BEECH TRAVEL AIR IS THE TRUE “TWIN BONANZA” ALTHOUGH BEECHCRAFT HAD ALREADY USED THAT NAME ON A BIGGER AIRPLANE THAT HAD NO PARTS IN COMMAN WITH THE SINGLE ENGINED BONANZA, THE TRAVEL AIR USED THE BONANZA FUSELAGE, ALONG WITH SOME PARTS FROM THE STRENGTHENED MILITARY VERSION OF THE BONANZA, THE MENTOR. LIKE THE BONANZA, THE TRAVEL AIR WAS PERIODICALLY UPGRADED BY THE FACTORY TO MAKE IT FASTER, SAFER, MORE USEFUL, OR MORE MODERN LOOKING. THE BASIC LAYOUT OF THE AIRCRAFT IS A BONANZA FUSELAGE, WITH 2 LYCOMING 180 H.P. DYNA-FOCAL MOUNT (FOR SMOOTHNESS) ENGINES, WHICH GIVE IT GOOD SPEED (200 MILES PER HOUR), WITH GREAT RANGE (OVER 1000 MILES), IN A GREAT HANDLING PACKAGE, WITH RUGGED RELIABLE SYSTEMS, FROM THE ENGINES TO THE LANDING GEAR TO THE CONTROL SURFACES THIS 1965 BEECH TRAVEL AIR IS THE LATER MODEL D95A VERSION, WHICH CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH MANY MODIFICATIONS THAT MADE IT RIGHT IN STEP WITH THE BONANZA AND BARONS OF THE DAY. TRAPIZOIDAL 3RD REAR SIDE WINDOW, WITH LONGER INTERNAL FUSELAGE FOR A BIG REAR BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT LONGER NOSE, BALANCES THE AIRPLANE BETTER VISUALLY, ADDS SPEED, AND INCREASES THE SIZE OF THE FRONT BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT. INSIDE, THE BUCKET SEATS ARE NICER, AND THE DASH IS REDESIGNED WITH A CENTER STACK FOR AVIONICS, AND A TRUE SIX-PACK LAYOUT FOR THE FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS. IF THIS DASH LAYOUT LOOKS FAMILIAR, IT IS BECAUSE IT LOOKS JUST LIKE A BARON !!
